I really don't revolve my boating and fishing around what other people think.
On my last rig, I spent more on fishfinders alone than I did the whole boat, and I'm far from the only one.
With the lakes around here, good electronics can mean the difference between not getting a bite and loading the boat. There's a whole lot of dead water.
On my current boat, it took all of about an hour to transfer my main sonar over, doesn't take long at all.
Like most Get it ...and by the time you get another Boat and transfer to it You will be a master on that unit...
I’ve got a Helix 9 SI on a duck boat. Maybe it looks goofy, but I couldn’t care less if someone thinks so. Electronics are worth it.

Dang I didn't know it worked on Ducks ,or is it on diving ducks ....Sorry I just couldn't pass it up ...
Electronics are definitely worth it they come from a Spark to Finding fish and it seems endless...

You need a good DF no matter what you fish out of. Get it now and that will be money you don't have to spend when you get a bigger boat.
