Question NO Transducer for HB Helix 10 Chirp Mega Di GPS G2N

Just bit the bullet and purchased a HB Helix 10 Chirp Mega DI GPS G2N and a Minn Kota Ultrex trolling motor that has features that work together with the HB fish finder. The transducer that comes with the Helix is a transom mount that does not have the necessary RF protection from the trolling motor.
FYI= The transducer that is needed to mount on the trolling motor is not available and is on back order until June!
Recently changed to April. My season here in Missouri is starting now. Just thought you might want to know. XXXFFFF***:::>>>

Info is straight from Humminbird customer service two days ago. Can’t believe they can’t do better than that.

Take that transducer, lower your motor and have helix where you can view screen. Turn on trolling motor then place transducer on motor and run it up and down shaft. While doing this watch screen for any interference showing up. That will tell you pretty quick wheather it will work or not. Most of the interference problems come from the power cord not transducer. Yes early on there were problems with transducers and their cables on legacy models but most problems today are solved with the power cable with the ferrit ring installed right behind the plug.

TROLLING MOTOR ONLY NEEDS TO BE ON 1-2

I called Humminbird customer service approximately 3weeks ago to inquire about the availability of the TM transducer for Helix 9 chirp mega DI G2N. They indicated 3-4 weeks. When I called a few minutes ago they stated it’s on backorder until the end of April....

I haven’t used a ferret ring before? Where are they available from? Particular size or model?

Call hummingbird. If you are having interference problems they should send you some. The newer units have one built into power cable. If you have a unit with interference problems and old style power cord with out knot in it tell them and they should send you a new cable free of charge.

The problem is the HB 10 and 12 Mega Chirp DI G2N have the latest technology for 2018 and require a trolling motor transducer that matches that technology. It has better RF protection then the transom transducer that comes with the Helix.
HB has an exchange program for the transducer you need but only if it is still in the original package UNUSED. The trolling motor transducer is not available. HB customer service says maybe sometime in April.

I know it really suc...... um stinks to have to wait, but I really recommend you NOT open the transducer packaging or mounting hardware packaging and go ahead and get set up for the swap. The trolling motor version is really the proper transducer for the job. For the time being, find you a used di transducer that will work on your unit, if you can, and use it until the new one comes in. Then sell it to someone else or keep it as a spare. My father-in-law had the same issue with the gen1 Helix when he went to swap for the trolling motor version... they were out of stock and backordered. I would bet... you will get it quicker than they are saying. My experience is that they try to give you the worst case answer up front, but it's usually not as long as they say. LOTS of people buying these and swapping transducers... they just can't get them fast enough.
