    Question Ultrex / 360 questions...

I've recently installed a new Ultrex, but not yet installed the heading sensor, nor have I done any of the calibrations.

I wanted to wait until my HB 360 arrived, and do it all at once.

After my first time out with the Ultrex (which I already LOVE,) I came home to find the 360 on my porch. (Big thanks to Brian @ BBG) I have physically installed the 360 on the Ultrex, but not real comfortable with all the ethernet/power connections.

I plan on taking the installed equipment over to the same fellow who ran all cables / wires when I installed the Helix 10 Mega GN2 SI on the console, and Helix 12 GS2 DI on the bow. At the time of the initial install, an ethernet port was installed under the console, as well as a fuse block. The power is wired in so that the "All off" is connected to the disconnect at the back inside the battery compartment. (opposite of the trolling motor cut off)

I was very pleased with his work. Thoughtful in execution, nice and "tidy" work.

I've contacted him to complete the connections for both heading sensors, and hooking in the 360. After texting images of the installed 360 and asking if he had an on/off switch for the 360, he indicated that it would be tying it in with the others at the back.

Both Helix units have the ability to power on and off. Admittedly, I don't always power off the bow unit after pulling the trolling motor to move to the next spot, but on occasion... if I'll be traveling to the other end of the lake, or break for lunch etc... I do.

Wouldn't it be prudent to have a switch on the bow of the boat to control power to the 360? I'm unaware of the working on the inside of the transducer on the 360... does the little rabbit continuously run circles inside while power is supplied? Does this affect the unit adversely while its on it's side (stowed)?

Additionally, with the way the 360 mounting bracket fixes itself to the head of the unit, is it okay to trailer the 360 fixed in position? (I see them rolling down the highway all the time.) With 3 slotted holes for the bolts to run through, it's as if HB never intended it to be mounted "permanently."

Any suggestions, or more importantly.... "don't do's?"

    Thanks,

    Beavz

The 360 just needs to be switched "somewhere" so it doesn't draw power when you're not in the boat ...

I have seen 1 Pic of a strap around the 360 Shaft in the stowed position to keep it from bouncing while stowed ...
