    Default Crappie?

I had to be home today by 11:00 and I found two schools of fish on the way back to the boat ramp. I know the easy answer is that I should have tried to catch them and find out, but I didn't have time. I'm not good at finding crappie yet and I just wanted to know if you think this is crappie or something else, based off of what you can see. Thanks.

I would say the second picture sure looks like it could be crappie. The shadows showing to the left of the school of fish is a really good tell tell sign and they would have been pretty high up in the water column also. Now the only way to really know what they where is to catch some. I stand to be wrong in my answers as I am still learning sonar myself.
Be safe and good luck fishing

I think both could be crappie. Agree with Scat the second picture showing the shallows. I beleive the first one they are hugging the bottom.

Second pic most diff looks like crappie. First looks like brush pile with a few fish on it maybe.

Thanks for all the replies. Bama, I'm surprised to see that someone says the first picture could be a brush pile. I would not have ever guessed that.

Do you have any pictures of brush piles that I could compare to?

    Default Crappie?

Well I would have said, shad in first pic and Crappie in the 2nd. However after Bamas astute observation, that may be a brush pile covered with shad, the first pic.

I'm not so sure that there's any brush there, at all. It's hard to make out with that swipe of "coloration smear" across most of the image. What's up with that ??

No disrespect intended, but ... do you really like that color palette ?? It just seems to wash out the light color of the fish images. I've tried several palettes on my DI, and most of those with multiple colors or bright colors seem to blend out the fish images at times. That's why I stuck with the "blue/white" palette ... so I could get images that were easy on the eye, and showed great detail :

May not be brush. Just my uneducated guess. Lol. I would have marked it for another pass later for sure. Doesn't show a definite picture. I have some brush piles that look like that when there is no fish suspended on them.

On the left side, I can see3 stumps? I have a lot of melted down brush piles that look similar. Would be best to make another scan.
