Makes sense. Thank you. I have 2 boats each with RAM mounts, a GPS puck, power cord, and a transducer. I hot swap the 998c SI FF head depending on which boat I use.

I need to go down to the store and look at a 10" unit and see how much screen size difference their is compared to my 998c. BTW...the 998c SI HD has been and continues to be a very good unit.

I have my 798 SI that works great but don't use it. Original plan was to put it up front with a transducer/guard on the TM. I never got that far. Primarily because I fish many laydowns and bump the TM often. Not sure a transducer guard would help with my fishing but it might. I have been satisfied with having one transducer on the stern...works for me.

Whatever I purchase I will configure the same. Seems to work having one unit and two transducers (One per boat).

Again, your thought/recommendation is awesome. You are 100% correct regarding the price difference, especially adding the cost of a second transducer. That is why I am still thinking...but those MEGA images sure are enticing.

My 1197 and 1198 are still working good for me, but I would really like to have one of the Mega SI units as well. I am currently locked into a caregiver role that is preventing me from getting enough time on the water to justify upgrading ...... but when I am able to get more time on the water I plan to have a Mega 10 SI unit...maybe they will be on sale by then. :-)
