I have one of the small rechargeable phone batteries that you can connect to a cell phone to power it. It's a 3000maH one so it could power my little Lowrance fish finder for a while.

How easy is it to splice the USB wire into a regular battery harness to the fish finder? The battery uses a mini USB I think, so I hope to cut it and splice it to the finder.

I read where USB cables have 4 wires. Is that correct and which ones do I splice to? I'm pretty decent with electronics but have never cut one of these cables.
