Default What fish finder do I want

I fish on the same lake most of the time. Deepest place on the lake is 22 feet in the middle with sides from 4 feet to 10. I fish mostly for bluegills and crappie. The best fishing I have found is in deep water with the fish from 0 to 6 feet. So I need a fish finder I can find these fish or the ones on the bottom in 10 feet of water. I fish from a 12 foot aluminum boat with a electric trolling motor on the back. Would like to stay under $600. Thanks for any help

I'd pose that question to Brian@BBGmarine ... he'll give you the skinny on what best fits your needs, as well as a cheaper price than most other sales outlets (online or box stores). You can PM him ... his screen ID is Brian@BBGmarine

or you can call him @ 888-570-0916 and tell him you're a Crappie.com member. 88888-570-09168-570-0916

Hard to beat the side imaging units in shallow lakes. Also best to get the biggest screen unit that you can afford and GPS is a must for sinking fish habitat and finding structure later.
Be safe and good luck fishing

SI is invaluable in finding the bream beds ..... They will give a a place to start even after the spawn .... just look for them in that area only deeper.

The Helix 7 SI unit would be a little out of your price range unless you can find the G1 unit...... The Helix 5 SI unit would be well within your price range..... The GPS capability is another leap forward if you currently don't have that.

If you want to get a larger unit, the 98 or 99 series units can be found at a very good price.

l would recommend the Helix SI unit. Either 5 or 7 size unit. I also highly recommend doing the transducer
switch for the HD transducer. Humminbird will do this as long as you don't open the packaging the compact
transducer comes in. This gives a SIGNIFICANT upgrade in screen detail. It will cost you about an extra $90.

I run a Helix 5 SI on my pond boat and have found it to be deadly in locating bream beds and
other lake structures. As long as the 5 is located close to your face for viewing you will have
    sufficient detail.
