Terrible picture but hopefully it shows the bottom of the boat well enough. 899 si transom transducer. I'll mount a transducer mounting plate first. Can someone show me possibly with a dot, where I should start trying to mount the ducer? To be honest this will be the first time I ever ever mounted a transducer from scratch and the first time I've ever mounted a side Imaging transducer whatsoever.

Mount at the green square - unless the lower unit wants to hit the xducer housing at full turn ...
Mount at Blue square if above doesn't work ...
Mount the xducer as seen in the diagram below ...
The slanted line in the diagram above is the bottom of the transom line ...

Personally, I would mount it on the starboard side of the engine. Prop rotation could cause cavitation issues on the port side. Notice the slanted line diagram is for the starboard side, the recommended side. The Blue square is the best option, except on the starboard side. Green square will also give you issues with prop wash.
