I didn't want to spend my afternoon searching the FAQ on MinnKota's site.
Yesterday I was longlining cranks on KY Lake in a shifting wind of about 10 mph+/-. I was running about 1.5 mph but couldn't get my RipTide remote to stay locked in cruise control. I was running ledges so I was not running a straight line and the wind was not constant. I know the motor was changing speed often to compensate. Several times I would see my speed had either increased or decreased on my 1199HD, but when I would check the remote, the cruise control was not engaged. Is there a % range that the speed has to stay in or it will disengage?
I have had battery issues with both my remotes and the replacement that MinnKota sent. I put a fresh battery in the remote(I carry several spares) but that made zero difference. I have seen that happen a time or two in the past but this was often enough it was getting really annoying.
Any thoughts? The motor is less than a year old.

I would try the Bass Boat central forum. They have some very smart guys under the trolling motor part. My remote goes to sleep and I have to slap it to wake it up. batteries last about 2 years. The only problem I have with cruise is when I lean over and hit one of the buttons. My boat being tin and high sides is a fight to keep it going with wind above 15 mph. Jones Trolling motor has always had an answer for me.

I have the iPilot add on to my Powerdrive V2. I use the cruise control all the time and have never had it disengage. We don't normally have much wind here either.

From MinnKota:
"The cruise control would disengage if there is no correction required within a certain period of time (20 minutes). For example, if you're trying to achieve a speed of 1 mph and conditions like wind or current are such that the motor does not need to come to achieve that speed, then the cruise control may disengage."
Not sure this answered my question.

Mine was doing the same thing. But today It held the speed the cruse was set on. I updated it this am. And it helped mine on that along with spot lock. Went from I love the I-Pilot Link. To WOW I love this thing and not sure why I went so long without having one.
