Lowrance Gen2/Gen3

I'm confused! I have 2 Lowrance 7 Gen2 units linked w/ LSS-2 structurescan. My question is ... If I buy a 12" Gen 3 unit, will it plug and play? I understand that if I want he 3D capability that I will need a new "transducer". If I do that, will the Gen2 units work, or will I have to have 2 structurescan transducers? I just cant figure out what will work and what wont.

The 3D is a different animal. You need a 3D module and a 3D transducer

I understand that the 3D wont work with the Gen2 units. My main question is will the Gen3 units network with the Gen2 units using the Structurescan that I already have? If so, will it work with the cabling that is already ran? Or do I need additional stuff t make it work
