Default My solution for a portable fish finder

I am somewhat pleased with how this turned out. I bought a $20 ammo box from Academy to be the platform. Drilled a few foles and mounted the GPS puck and mount for the 798C Si. The transducer sits inside the box with a worm clamp with a 1/2" nut driver used to mount to the motor.

It's a bit of redneck engineering but should serve me well in a rented jon boat or whatever I decide to get for small water fishing.

You can't keep an Alabama boy down.

I presume you keep a small battery in the box also to run the DF? Good idea I'd say.

Hey neighbor, way to go... looks good. Now, let's go fishing. (I have an extra jon boat if you need to borrow one).

Thanks Searay. Actually, I plan on using a small 12V ad placing in the box. I have two bricks in the box to keep it from sliding around right now.

I have an exide 24 class batter running the motor and HB. Since buying the GPS puck, this battery doesn't seem to be enough for more than 4-5 hours dependent on the wind and other factors.

I also have an issue with the motor giving interference to the SI beams. I did some searching ad found I a not the only one with this problem. The only place I can mount the ducer is on the motor, and the "digital" power feature of the Endura Max motor is the culprit. It does not interfere with Sonar or DI.

Can you take pic of that on the boat sometime?
