Default Lost Temp - HB 859

Had temp when I first installed now temp is not showing as an option when selecting readouts.

Also, after it hadn't been used in a while (week or better), when I switch on it will just give a white screen. Then have to pull power cable to switch off. After that I may have to start and re-start it a few times to get it to recognize the transducer. Related you think?

No problems whatsoever after it has been on for a little while and I shut it off.

Weird anomolies such as these can sometimes be attributed to low or intermittent power ...

It would be a good idea to have the battery load tested and check all connections for corrosion ...

Low or intermittent power can be compounded by the unit being wired into the boat wiring harness instead of direct to the starting battery with 14 gauge or heavier wire ...
    ----

Restore Defaults is a good 1st choice of troubleshooting (after confirming a good clean power source) ...

And crosstesting another head unit on your boat or your head unit on another boat is a good troubleshooting step ...

I have new batteries and a rewire on my want-to-do list. Right now the 859 is hooked to the aux battery with other items (lights-rarely used, bilge and aerator, never used). The aux battery is wired to my starting battery as well so it should be getting a charge from the motor. You may be right on power though as I often turn the unit on after I get the motor started and on the trailer still, theoretically when I have it at it's most drained down state.

These units are very finicky about constant clean power ...

Clean meaning no current drops with other electrical things stealing/sharing the power output of the battery and wire big enough to not allow current drop over the length of the circuit ...
