    Default Garmin echoMAP 93sv GPS

Thinking about buying one. How good is the GPS on this unit? Know I will have a lot questions but will start here. Any other info appreciated. Thanks.

I just bought and installed one of last years mode 93sv (non chirp). Check with BBG Marine over on Bass Boat Central for a smokin deal on these units. I have not used the 93sv yet, but ....

i I have a Garmin 70s that I use for mapping. It uses the same maps and map cards as the 93 sv. Compared to my previous unit, a Humminbird with Navionics maps, the Garmin in light years better. The 93sv comes pre loaded with the Lakeview HD map, and it's the entire USA, not just sections of it. I bought the Lakeview Ultra HD map chip, since my home lake has a maxdef map.

Thanks Warhawk. I've been in contact with Brian. The 93sv does not have a port for an external antenna and was wondering how close it would get you to your marked spot?

Even my Humminbird, which had lousy GPS mapping, would get you right onto a spot. These Garmin units are much more accurate on mapping, and I've never had any problem finding brush pile or other feature that I marked.

I would give up all my available Sonar technologies before I give up my chartplotting capabilities ...

Sonar is cool ... But mapping/GPS is what finds the fishy spots ...and allows returning to those fishy spots over and over again ...
