    Default Front mounted transducer question

In an effort to see fish coming up, as opposed to seeing what I just ran over - I mounted a HB 180T on my Terrova to help me see a little better forward. If I mount the transducer level with the trolling motor, am I going to see any fish any further in front of the transducer itself? If not, then what about tilting the back of the transducer down about 15 degrees to try and give me a little further look forward? I realize the depth will not be true by increasing the angle but that's not important to me as I can check depths on the console finder.

That is the basic puck style. You may need to check on your exact transducer....Some capability will vary...along with results. I believe some manufacturers make motor mount transducers now forward scan. New technology is going so fast now hard to keep up with. Doesn't seem that long ago to me a Garmin 240 was state of the art.

HB made a TM mount for my transducer but I can't seem to find any graphics, right now, as to the scan pattern. Guess I'll just have to figure it out on the water.

The forward edge of the 2d cone will reach forward of the TM somewhat ... especially the 83kHz 2d cone ...
