Default Helix 5 si gps vs. HB 698ci HD si chartplotter Opinions???

I'm looking at buying one or the other. This will be my first si unit so I'm just trying to get some opinions of which y'all would recommend and why. I can get the 698 for about $100 less than the helix. Also not wanting to break the bank so $500 is my budget. Thanks for the help.

The widescreen format of the HELIX 5 SI GPS will greatly be a benefit for the SI view ...

Also the HELIX service and update life will no doubt be longer ...

I got the the Helix 5 Si Gps ( Feb 2015).... I love it. But I do wish I would have bought a bit bigger screen. When I bought they only had the Helix 5 out in the Helix series.

So to take care of the size issue I just brought the Unit closer to me with RAM mounts ( i bought all the pieces on Amazon for about $75).

For the money you can't beat it.

Good price for sure and probably cant be beat. Never fails tho....lol $500 budget and item cost $581. It would def be worth the $81...but aint it funny how that happens every time. The "Economist" got everyone and everything figured out for sure hahahaha! Good luck with your decision!

I would look for the biggest screen possible that I could buy with that $500 or save up a little more and at least get one with a 7" screen. I don't know nothing about Garmin but you might want to check this unit out for the amount of money it cost which is close to your budget price. Striker 7sv Sonar/GPS Combo

Thanks for the responses. I'm leaning toward the helix. Might stretch the budget and upgrade to the 7, I haven't decided yet. But I'm also gonna consider the Garmin. The down side is not having any maps. Don't know if I would really use them or not though.

Heater the thing I would say is see if your local bass pro has had their spring classic yet. If they haven't they normally have good sales, with extra rewards points, rebates, and etc.

I had to pay with Master Card to more money back, but it wasn't Bass Pro Card.

I got my Helix 5 SI GPS in Febuary 2015 for about $390 .

So about $160 cheaper than the selling price then.

    Just a little info.
