Striker is definitely an affordable way to get into CHIRP ...

But to keep the cost down ... Striker has only track plotting capabilities (no mapping) ...

And of course ... It's a stand alone series with no Ethernet ...

And only available up to a 7" display ...

Just had a little Stryker 4 land on my doorstep today. I'm gonna mount it on my yak and give it a whirl this year. I'm completely new to the fish finder world and it looked and sounded like a good place to start. I'll try to provide some feedback in the coming months as I get to know the unit. I've done a lot of searching online and didn't find too much feedback. Found just a little on You Tube. So for $129 I decided to try it out. I do know that there are a lot of happy Garmin owners out there. I'm just gonna start simple with the way points and focus on learning how to use the sonar to my advantage first.

Ricki, have you had your hands on one, I have plenty of mapping available with a couple of hummers in place but the side view seems better with the chirp ducer. Any thoughts are welcome!!!

No I haven't Rees ... The Striker has just now started shipping. Not many reports yet ...

It sure is an affordable way to get into CHIRP ...

And track plotting is usable ... Most of us started with simple handheld track plotters ...

For someone that doesn't need contour mapping ... Waypoint ability is still beneficial ...

Have heard good things about the smaller ones and saw where the 7s were fixing to come out. Will be watching for sure.

I've got a Striker 7sv or order with Amazon. Planning to use it side by side with an existing Garmin 50s I use for mapping.

It it will replace a Humminbird 859di.

Be real interested in hearing how you like it when you get it on the lake.
