    I have the long arm Ram with the bigger ball. Works well

    That's what I was looking at....do you leave your depth finder on it at all times or do you remove it while traveling?

    I leave mine on, but I do fold it down so the unit is face down against the carpet

    I have a 899 up front and got the over size 2.5 ball, works great. I leave mine on and tilt screen at 90° angle so doesn't catch much wind. Crank it down tight have had no problems.

    I used to use a Ram Mount but now have a BalZout. IMHO far better than a Ram Mount.

    What ram mount would work best for it? I would go for the D series.
