I'm curious the difference in them and the hds series to justify the big cost difference. The gen 2 don't have wifi and Bluetooth built in and they cost way more still and there the old model.🤔

They even got the 10hz built in antenna. HDS gen2 that's another 200 and another 200 for a wifi module that this unit has built in. It's impossible to stay ahead of electronics. You spend a fortune and then they make them better and cheaper

The ti series is basically HDS Gen 2 Touch without Ethernet ...(still has NEMA 2000) ...

(Notice there is a ti 5 now with touch) ... And both the 5ti and the 7ti can use the new "Totalscan" scan xducer ...

The Hook is basically the old Elite series ...

Is the total scan transducer replacing the lss2 and will it allow units like the hds gen2 to be chirp sonar capable. It would be nice to if the transom mount fit total scan is interchangeable with the lss2 mount to keep from drilling more holes

I think you will still need the sonar hub to get chirp on a Gen 2 touch. From what I understand, the hub has the "brains" for the chirp in it, not the Gen 2 unit or transducer.

On another note ... the TotalScan xducer would allow 2d/DI/SI all from the same xducer (and is compatible with Gen 2 Touch) ...

Gen 3 has the 2d CHIRP sounder module built in ...
