    Default Humminbird 698

Anyone here use one of these? Gander Mountain has them for $399 shipped. Felt like it was a good way to get started with SI.

That is going to be or is a Legacy unit, which means no longer being produced. Yet Bird will support it for quite awhile. Great price for a good SI unit. It is going to be harder to pick out objects like fish because of the smaller screen but if you have good eyes should not be a problem. Just have to run your SI on single screen to get the best out of it. For the money it is well worth it. You could spend another 100.00 and get the Helix 5 which is the latest version. But if money is tight like with so many of us that's your deal.

Any SI is better than no SI ...

There are settings that can help with smaller screen SI units ...:

*Set SI Range smaller to enlarge structure and fish on the SI image ...
*Open a zoom box on interesting objects for better viewing ...
*Set to view 1 SI side only to enlarge structure and fish on the SI image ...

You will figure it out. Even I was able to figure it out and have gotten really proficient in the last year. Im not all that sharp sometimes. Gonna be selling my 899 hdsi in the next few weeks for not much more than that. Less than a year old, original box and manuals. Works like new.

OK so I now have the unit and ready to put it on the boat. Trying to find out which mount to use. When I type in Ram mount for 698 humminbird I get all kinds of mounts but none that says it will fit this unit.
Anyone know which mounts will fit this? Looking for a basic unit.

This should be the one you need, 600 series not listed but it has same mount as 500 and 700 series. Would do a serch and find best pricing.

Thank you. I was looking for the 600 and couldn't find it anywhere. Great to have so many with so much info.
