Default Helix 5 SI with GPS

Can someone help me out with which all Navionics products are compatible with the Helix 5 SI GPS model? From what I can gather it is compatible with Navionics+, Navionics Gold and Hotmaps Premium?

Also, what are the primary differences between these 3 versions? I am not familiar with modern sonar units so please forgive my ignorance.

The Gold and the Premium won't be on the market starting January 1st. So go with a Navionics+

I posted this in the main forum for someone else's similar question ...:

Very easy with Navionics, just go to their website, click on Web App and you can view the current maps for Nautical Charts (Navionics data) and Sonar Charts (user generated data). That is updated daily and is what you would get when purchasing a Navionics card and updating it.
All Navionics products include a year of Freshest Data Updates.

For Navionics, the best card for the Helix is Navionics+. All three ways to get those maps will give you both Nautical Charts and Sonar Charts.
The coverage is for inland lakes and the Gold coverage (coastal and major rivers).

The original Navionics+ card is 2GB and has no maps. You choose what locations to download to the map card from anywhere in the US and Canada. It is discontinued but some retailers still have copies. MSRP $179

The current Navionics+ is Preloaded 16 GB with all the maps for the US and Canada including the waters covered by the Gold version. MSRP $199

If you already own a map card by most any company, there is the Navionics Update card which is 2GB and has no maps. To use it, you active it with your card so it becomes the Navionics+ version. MSRP $99

I'll add just a little ... The Freshest Data Updates (included with the card purchase) allows you to update your card as many times as you want for the 1st year ... After that your card stays at the detail level of your last active update (unless you elect to purchase another year of Freshest Data Updates for $99) ...

Thanks guys. That solves that dilemma easy enough.

Another question I had on the Helix 5 was about sharing data like waypoints, structure markings, etc with each other. I know they are not network-able, so can data like that be synced between the two via memory cards using a computer?

    Don't even need a computer ...

Export NAV data to a SD Card from 1 unit ... Import NAV data from same SD Card into 2nd unit ...

Although it is a good idea to run the waypoints thru Humminbird PC to look for corrupt waypoints ...and to have a backup in HBPC) ...

(This does not apply to ONIX/ION ... Only core unit to core unit) ...

Thanks Rickie. You have been an enormous help. I think I will plan on ordering one soon...hopefully some deals will pop up prior to Christmas. I was a tad too late on the Black Friday deals.
