Default So, what good is a log sonar file?

I have a basic understanding of sonar. I logged SI only (record light flashed on screen).
What good is this sl2 log file? I didn't see any way to playback the recording in di view and mark any waypoints. All these years, I never tried this feature. Never had a reason to use this feature. The Lowrance help desk is shallow.

I recorded this back before I was injured. Call me bored.

Only guessing, but from what I've learned at work, log files are for the IT guys only. If you were having an issue with your unit, the Lowrance IT people may have you turn that feature on when the unit is acting up in order to capture the error in "code". You would then download the file to an SD card or other device and transfer to PC and then email it to them.

One other thing I've learned is that if a guy turns that feature on and forgets to turn it back off, it will fill the memory and the unit will have trouble doing anything

This is a Lowrance recording? If so you can download sonar viewer and view your recordings on your computer.

I have used the viewer, but you can't mark stuff. Well, not that I can see anyway.

What happened was the ice moved some of the structure in the shallows to the deeper. Iceburgs moving my stuff around. This is the ice that damaged our dock. I can visually see where some of the structure ended up, but some are gone. I am trying to identify what is what now. Lake iced over, then water level changed. I am sure the ice had stuff stuck in it and dropped stuff as it melted. Happened before.

I have not used this myself ...

I just know of its existence from sideimagingsoft.com ...

Lots of info here (it's HB relative but, I assume would be Lowrance similar) ...

Looks like a viewer would allow me to mark stuff while viewing. I sent in a long distant email. Waiting on response. Need to know if I can overlay sl2 with existing waypoints to verify structure was/wasn't moved via ice over/breakup.
