Default Question Re: Navionics on HB 597

I've got a 597ci HD DI Combo, I just purchased an older navonics+ card which seems to work fine when the card is "installed" in the hb card reader slot, but it does not give me an "upload" option to put the software on the unit. Since this unit only has 1 card reader slot I can't run a separate card to save waypoints. Am I missing doing something when I go to install the info???

Map data is not "installed" in the unit ...

The unit reads the map data directly from the SD Card and overlays it onto the base background map ...when you remove the map card = no map data ...

Waypoints can still be marked (and used with navigation) without the map card in the unit ...because Nav data is written directly to the unit internal memory and then overlayed onto the base background map ...(you will basically see the blue dot waypoint on the base background map) ...

Waypoints written to the unit internal memory have to manually be "exported" to the SD Card thru the Waypoint Management menu system under the NAV tab in the Main Menu System ...

The units with 1 SD Card slot are priced at a lower price point by the fact that some of the manufacturing costs can be cut by not having the 2nd SD Card reader hardware ...

The only time 1 SD Card slot is aggravating is when using a map card ...and then wanting to capture screenshots of recordings ...

Then you have to remove the map card and insert a regular SD Card to capture screenshots and/or recordings ...

Software updates would also need to remove the map card to make access for a SD Card with version updates ...but you wouldn't want the map card in any unit when updating anyway ...
