Default Advice on a Lowrance LSS 1

On my structure scan unit I wired the LSS 1 unit as per instructions. Supply to the yellow wire is fused and switched. Supply to the red wire is fused and hot all the time. Everything else from that battery is switched and turned off. If my boat sits for a couple weeks and is not on a charger the battery is drained. I think the LSS 1 is doing it. Is there any reason I can't switch the red wire also??? Thanks for any help given! I know there are a lot of smart people and good advice out there on this site!!!

Don't think the LSS1 is the problem. I would start by turning everything off in the boat and measure the current at the battery. You will probably find a small amount of amps. First place to look is a radio like a stereo as they draw some current when off. Keep checking until you eliminate the current at the battery when all is off.

Tie the red and yellow together and switch them. Solve problem.

I activate power to my electronics up front on with 1 switch. LSS1 ON, NMEA2000 ON, power to 3 HDS2 Touch ON. More than 1 switch complicates things. I use the LSS1 as a Network Expander only.

I have my red power wire wired hot at all times, the yellow (wake up) wire is on a switch. Never any battery problems.

This is true when the wake up works correctly. Mine didn't.

Guess I got lucky, my LSS-1 and 2 both work fine wired this way.
