does anyone know what is causing the rainbow line at the top of my sonar screen. sometimes when I take off to get on step that line drops down in to the screen the goes back to the top

this line started when I move my transducer from my step to the V bottom part on my boat.

Considering that move of your transducer ... could it be a "prop wash" effect (as in turbulence from the bottom of the boat) ?? Your description of the "rainbow line" moving deeper on the screen, and the shape of the 2d sonar cone, makes me think so.

the transducer is at the water line which is closer to the bottom of the boat and prop
