    Default Hbird 525

Unit will lock on at 3.5'. Might last for a minute, sometimes longer. Will then read correct. Just started doing this. Anyone else experience this?

Where is the xducer mounted ...??

Locking on a shallow depth like that usually means air is getting under the xducer face ... Either by coming out of the water at higher boat speeds or an epoxy failure for a bilge mounted xducer ...

Mounted on the transom. Screws are tight. Is the height wrong? When this happens im either sitting still, or using the trolling motor.

I think your height is fine ...

I notice the strain relief for the cable entrance into the xducer housing is damaged ...

It is possible the xducer may have water intrusion in it and shorting out ...

Do you have access to another xducer you could try ...??

Yes, also have a 141c, transducers are the same. I was out for two hours today. Switched the heads, did not have a problem. I'm gonna (hopefully) go Friday. Will see what happens on a longer trip.
    Thank you for the help.

Looked at the strain relief, did not see any breaks/cracks. Gonna go the next two days, will see what happens.
Was out for a little bit the other day, had the heads swapped, no problem s.
