    Default Beware on EBay


    Having just acquired a HB Helix 5 SI GPS I am interested in a Lakemaster Chip for it. Luckily I mentioned this to a knowledgeable friend - mrdux - and he warned me to make sure I get a version 2 or 3, as the version 1 chips are extremely lacking in detail especially on Barkley Lake. Checking EBay I found many vendors (stores) selling version 1 chips for full price. I have a bid in on a version 2 from a fellow who upgraded to version 3s in both his HBs.

    Aint just on Ebay, could be in any retail outlet, need to know what the latest version is and ask for it.

    Yep. We just had a thread from a guy who bought a brand new chip from Gander Mtn, and it was an older version. I think when he complained, they laughed. I know I'm done with Gander Mtn. Plenty of retailers out there who will do the right thing, but I guess "buyer beware" must have been written in the Bible somewhere

    Clint ...you need to check that card you are bidding on ...Your Helix will only accept micro SD Cards...

    Not all LakeMaster v2 cards are micro SD Card ...

    All LakeMaster v3 cards are micro SD Card (included in the SD Card adapter) ...

    All LakeMaster + cards are micro SD Card (included in the SD Card adapter) ...
