Default Humminbird 899 Card Slot Issue...?!

I have an 899 and most of the time I cannot get the second card in the slot and be able to close the door without it popping out under the door.
I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue? Maybe a Humminbird guru can chime in. Thanks.

This has been reported several times in the forums ...

You can call HB and they will send you a new card slot door ... (But reports are the replacement has the same issue) ...

I have actually seen this myself on a friends 998 and finally figured out that the most effective way to deal with this is to use the door itself to fully engage the SD Card into its slot ...

Aggravating yes ... But I've yet to see (or read of) any other workarounds ...

If you use this workaround (especially for a map card) ...it helps to have a chart view up when you use the door to engage the SD Card so that the "Loading Charts" popup at the top of the chart view verifies the action did indeed engage the SD Card ...

Thanks for the in depth answer! I will contact HB for the new door still and if that does not work then i will do a little "door surgery" to remove some of that plastic that is causing the issue. I will report back if it works and sell the idea to Humminbird for all the problems I have had. LOL
