You need the 5 Port Ethernet Switch. I used to have the same setup with the Link, 1199, and 898.

I just bought all new electronics and a trolling motor from a guy and need some help. I have a 999ci hd si at the helm and an 859ci hd on the front with an I-pilot link trolling motor. What I need help with is what I need to link them all together. The trolling motor is hooked to the Ethernet connection on the 859 so what is needed to get the 2 units hooked together? Can I use a Y connection or do I have to have a hub?

A man remembered never dies.
So if I get the 5 port switch will I be able to see side and down imaging on the 859 through the back transducer? Considering the price of the switch I think I might just run the Ethernet from the trolling motor back to the 999 since that's where my waypoints are at.
With both units being xx9 series units ... Sharing possibilities are many ...

But with the 5-Port Ethernet Switch installed you can control the trolling motor from either unit and see the waypoints and sonar on from one unit on the other.
You will need to buy another AS-EC-QDE Ethernet Adapter cable and two of the AS-EC-XXE Ethernet Connection Cables to run from each unit to the 5-Port Ethernet Switch. The “XX” will get replaced by the cable length. These come in 2, 10, 15, 20 and 30-foot lengths, so a fifteen-footer would be an AS-EC-15E and a twenty-footer would be an AS-EC-20E cable.
The nice part is that you can always opt to connect everything together later by adding the cables/Switches that you need.
