    Default Lowrance interference.

I have a hds9 gen 2 touch and a motor guide tour digital trolling motor. I have bad interference when motor is on. The screen will almost turn solid white. I looked at a YouTube video where a guy hooked a wire to the hose clamp on transducer and ran it to a solid negative side of his trolling motor plug in the boat. Would this be the best way to fix this problem?
    Thanks

It may or may not work. Here is some reading for you. http://www.crappie.com/crappie/fishi...-interference/

    Couple of questions.
1: Is this a bow mount fish finder?
2: Are you pulling power from the same battery that is being used by your trolling motor?
3: Do you have a transducer built in to your trolling motor or one that is mounted to the trolling motor?

Reason I ask is that your interference might not be what you think it is. It could be RF interference (radio Interference). You get this when you have electronics operating on similar radio frequencies in a confined area. I've even seen it from boat to boat. What you see on the screen might not be from the transducer when you turn the TM on, but rather RF interference because you turned the TM on.

I also ask the questions because I'm sure there is going to be a lot more people with way more knowledge and experience in this matter chime in.

It is bow mount. I run bow and console unit off of cranking battery. No transducer in motor.
I have seen people with just a small amount of interference enough to fish with. Mine goes almost solid white screen. I saw another thread about an inboard charger and unhooking the cranking battery and try it.

Tie the negative of the cranker battery to the most negative post of the TM battery if you haven't done so.

You can turn you tm speed to max and see if at max power if the noise disappears. If it does, then it is prolly the noise from the PWM module.

So hook cable to the negative of one troll battery to a negative of the crank battery?

Use the most negative post ( the one with the wire going to the trolling motor). Usually a black ins wire.

Some folks recommend this wire have 3a fuse in line fuse between battery negatives.

This connection generates a common point ground between the battery systems.

You have a tin boat? Tin complicates things.

It's a glass boat. But I have a 24v system on a nitro and in the back of the boat you hook each battery up seperate on a block
