Default HDS and Humminbird on same boat

Currently running an HDS 9, and love it! Here's the problem, I have minn kota and really want to use the Ipilot Link. Also just happen to have a 998 in the garage. From digging on the Internet today, seems there's not a interference issue. What I want to do is run the 998 on the front deck with a trolling motor mount transducer.dont want to have to turn one off to turn the other on. Has anyone ran anything like this? I know back in the day, you would get interference with 2 running (before Ethernet days).

For what it is worth, I have an HDS Touch 7 on the console and a 350 HB(soon to be a Helix) on the TM(I-Pilot with built in Tranducer) and I don't have a problem running both. I even ran and Eagle off the back so a buddy could watch while tight lining. All 3 running and no problems.

Glad to hear it! It hit me today to ask, the 998 was on my old boat, and it saves me a lot of headaches being able to use it. Hate the though of selling a unit. Heck, I think I'm still hanging on to a old LMS 520 for the same reason. Lol.

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

Interference may be dependent on the water depth.......The deeper the water the better the chance of crosstalk since they use the same frequencies. The 998 always pings 200khz unless you disable the sonar.

Bottom composition will also play a part in it with hard flat bottoms (old road beds) being the worst.

Anytime you use two sonar units that use the same frequency(s) in close proximity to each other, they have the chance of having sonar cross-talk interference. On the ‘Bird units you can try and combat this by turning on and up the Noise Filter menu and possibly manually setting a different Lower range setting.

Thanks Greg. Soon as the weather settles here, I'm gonna try it. Even if I do turn one off the other on, I will get more use out of it than it sitting in the garage.
