    Default I-Pad for Navionics

Does anyone have any input on this or has done it? The way I understand it is you get a cellular capable I-Pad and buy the app for $50 and that's it. Do you need a special phone too? and are there any monthly service fees like with a phone?

I have the app on my I phone. There is no fees on the app after purchase. I don't think the app I got was 50 dollars tho thinking it was around 10 or 15.

The iPad app is 50.00 it is optimized for the iPad screen. If your iPad had gps capabilities you can down load a specific lake area when you have it connect to wi fi and then when you are out of wi fi range it uses the internal gps like a giant handheld gps

I bought the app for an Android table also have it on the Droid phone. It comes in handy for finding docks with deep water access and close to creek channels. Well worth the money I paid for it in saved fuel hunting spots to fish.

The maps aren't all stored on your device with the app like they are on a chip. You download them as you move. You have to pay for the data you use, and that means you have to have a data plan. Cost of that depends on what kind of phone plan you have.

I use it on my iPad and it works fantastic. You get position, heading, speed, contours, hot spots...

Thats not accurate info..........I have it on a iphone 4 that does NOT have any phone or data service and navionics works just fine on it.....It stays in the boat just like my DF do.........

If you know someone with a ipad check it out in the middle of the day in bright sun.......I know with my iphone it is a challenge to see the screen good in bright sun.
