    Default onix install advice

Ok gentlemen he is what i got wanting to do onix units on bow and console. i am very confident on that I can conquer this myself as i am fairly mechanically inclined. how do you guys have you si transducers mounted to your transom?

I do not have a jack plate so and adapter that mounts that way is irrelevant.

I am wanting to do a talon as well has anyone mounted a ducer to the mount arm for the talon?

from what i find on hummingbirds website the 2d pucks are pretty straight forward to install as a through hull. anything i should be careful of?

thanks in advance i work hard and long for my money and cannot take paying 1000+ to install this without a little love on the purchase.

besides it is fun to accessorize your own boat.

the install is on a skeeter mx

I've got my onix transducer, mounted on my trolling motor, but have a 998 transducer mounted on the transom. I don't see much difference in there design and they pretty much work the same.Theres not much to it, just make sure that your outboard doesn't block the view of the transducer.I get 2d readings to 50mph, with my setup, but you can mount the transducer higher and use a extra 2d transducer also

Just be sure to test the 2D inside-the-hull transducer install before you go mixing any epoxy. I've heard of way too many "professional" installations where they did not do this and the results were bad or weak 2D sonar returns.

Ok getting ready to install my units what are your thoughts gentlemen? Glassed in transducer of transom mount for the 2d? I have always transom mounted but this is my first glass boat.

Also what are your thoughts on mounting the side imaging transducer up on the step?Name: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1426985947.010691.jpg

Epoxy in an inside-the-hull transducer for high-speed 2D depth readings.

For the Si transducer it looks to me like you will have to put it on the same step as the motor is mounted on. On the second picture above it looks like the transom curves or is angled forwards just below where the motor is mounted, is this correct? If so, you will need to either mount it on the same step as the motor or mount it on the curved/slanted area but use something as an adapter so that the transducer will be pointing straight forwards.

Greg is that a special transducer for inside or standard one?

For the ONIX units it would be the XP-14-20
