Default Lowrance Elite 5 HDI Installation

I think I have most of the installation figured out.......
My question has to do with mounting the transducer on the trolling motor. I got the lowrance adapter but my trolling motor is the MK edge and it has a skeg sticking down in the front. According to mounting instructions the flat part of the ducer should be mounted facing forward on TM (facing away from the prop). If I do that, the wire is dangerously close to prop. Can I flip it around the other way? Will this type of mounting cause any problems? Thanks in advance.Name: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1423941097.149335.jpg

I have the same set up. Hope to hear back from some one who has used theirs already. I have the Elite 5 going on the front and the Elite 7 for the back.

I used the stainless steel bracket that came with my transducer to mount it to the trolling motor. The wire comes out of the transducer close to the shaft of the trolling motor which is a Minkota Edge. I haven't experienced any problems. The flat part faces the prop. Which is the direction they intended the transducer to mount if it was installed on the transom of the boat. Hope this helps y'all. I will try and take a pic and post it in the morning .

The configuration you show makes sense to me. A Ferrari is a lot more aerodynamic than a VW Bus. I would think that having the flat forward would cause more turbulence. The turbulence could create "noise" on the readout and give the prop less water to grab. At the very least, I would give this a try. Worst that happens is you have to re-mount 'ducer.

There is no "front" or "rear" in a 2d xducer nor a DI xducer ...

Targets are recognized as soon as they enter the beam ... From any direction ...

Most xducer housings (2d and DI) are formed simply for water flow dynamics ...

Only SI imaging (and HB Quadrabeam) have a "left and right" ... Which equates to "front and rear" ...

thanks everyone for the input, I will continue with the installation this coming week. It is going to be cold for a bit here so should have plenty of garage time. I like most everything about the unit so far, one complaint is the little short power cord they include with the unit. I'm going to have to find a longer power cord to mount the head unit in the ideal place on the front. They send a ducer cable that is 4 miles long and a power cord that is 2 feet, doesn't make much sense to me.
Any other tips yall have on installation would be appreciated
