Default HB 1199 simulator mode & transducer

Am I missing something here? When I put my HB on simulator in the garage to check out settings or do an update, I hear the transducer pinging. Then if I use the menu to turn the sonar off in simulation mode, the transducer stops pinging, but the simulation screens (SI/Di/sonar) also stop.

How can I safely play with this thing in the garage?

Are you forcing the unit into Simulator mode from the startup options ...??

Are you activating the Simulator from the 3 startup options by pressing the right cursor ...(just "Highlighting" the Simulator choice from the 3 startup options does not "activate" the Simulator)...

Try turning off the Demonstration mode (under the Setup tab) ... (Not that it should have anything to do with your issue ... But try it anyway) ...

Not sure about forcing, but when it boots up and hit the button for options that gives Normal, Simulator, and System Status, I select simulator.

    Correct ...

Then use the 4way cursor down to "Simulator" ...

Then use the 4way cursor right to activate the Simulator ...

If you just highlight Simulator without any other button presses ... The unit will start into Normal mode (if there is a xducer attached) ...

That is normal if you have Restored Defaults ...for the map to Default to Florida somewhere ...

You will have to reset your "Simulator Position" setting under the Chart tab back to your home lake ...

Do you need help with this ...??

Meanwhile ... It sounds like you are, in fact using Forced Simulator ...

This can also be confirmed out of water if there are sonar views showing the Simulator recording ... 2d/DI and SI views ...

If your xducer is ticcing in Simulator ... I think you should call HB ... 1-800-633-1468

Thanks Rickie, I can figure the configuration part out on the map and will give them a call. I only turn it on long enough to run the update so not to ruin the transducer.

It shouldn't hurt the xducer to run it out of water ...

Only the higher wattage CHIRP xducers need water or a cooling tank for cooling ...
