I have an 1198 Bird with the GPS puck located directly above my transducer which is mounted on the back of the boat. I have my I-pilot/link of course on the front. When I'm moving along and I find brush I would like to fish, I mark it on my bird. When I pull that mark up on my bird and hit "GOTO" the I-pilot takes me to the spot. The ? is, does it use the puck at the back of boat or the GPS inside the I-pilot?
Thanks, Shakynerves![]()

I am pretty sure the I-Pilot always uses it's own GPS. The co-ordinates will be what was marked by the 1198......I don't think the i-pilot link can share GPS....The link just transfers the info from your 1198 into the I-Pilot.
I agree with BobB.
When you marked the waypoint the 1198 unit was using its own GPS Receiver that was positioned over the transducer and therefore the brush. When you set the iPilot Link to go to that waypoint (which is a set of coordinates) it used its own GPS Receiver.
If the 1198 unit used the iPilot Link's GPS Receiver or if the iPilot Link used the 1198's GPS Receiver; you could have been up to 2x the length of the boat off from the brush (in addtion to the normal inaccuracy of the GPS system).
