IMO, you are wasting money on the built in TD. If you have a problem with it and need to get it repaired, you are now without a trolling motor, as well. The 859 is a fine unit, but I would still rather have DI up front.

Just got my retirement boat. Lund 1600 Fury Tiller. Thinking about putting a Terrova 55 with US2 and I-Pilot. Now I know that SI and DI won't work on the US2, so wondering what locator would be best for me. I'm looking at the Hummingbird 859ci HD. I do a lot of trolling with the trolling motor for walleye and like the idea of being able to mark my spots with the I-pilot. Anyone have any advice on locator or trolling motor match up? Good or bad? I'm 66 and don't keep up on all the electronic changes.

Gary, you could do that or get the same unit with DI and mount transducer on trolling motor. Several YouTube videos to show you how to mount transducer and route cable up the shaft on the terrova. I use my US2 with a lowrance 2d finder only. Have a 998 and been thinking about adding another unit to troller myself.

You could also go with a separate transducer mount and not worry about trying to put it on the trolling motor. I went to using this mount when I went to Lowrance units because the cable won't fit in the groove on my Terrova. It just takes a couple seconds to put it out or take it in.
