x3 make a battery bank out of the rod locker lol's you can always series and parallel them batteries too . you can series parallel connect multiples in pars of two still get 24 volt load but with the amps of the batteries in parallel... hated saying that cause batteries cost money but those darn trolling motors will suck one battery dry in no time lol's

Mike M, if you can step up to the Maxxum with the Digital Maximizer 12V 55# torque. it will help battery life. When you are at 100% it is equal to the Edge, but as you lower the power level it uses up to 5X less battery power. I could tell a lot of difference when I changed for the Edge to the Maxxum. This will not be best world but if you can't add more batteries it sure helps.

That is the direction that I am leaning. The rod box idea is also an option.
Do you find that the Maxxum is nosier then the Edge. I read somewhere that because the Maxxum has a stepper motor that it has more noise. I really don't think that would be a issue. What I do like is that I would be able to adjust the speed to any setting.

I have Maxxum Pro and I can hardly hear it running.

Mike, It might be a little nosier, I've had the Maxxum on for the third year but I don't remember thinking that (nosier). One of the main reasons I changed to the Maxxum was the infinite speed control. I fish a lot of brush piles and "love it" with my Edge it was always to slow for the wind or current or too fast. You can bend the motor shaft if you dead-center a stump at full speed. With practice you will be able to stay right on top of it. Good luck and have a great 4th (be safe) Doug

Mike, why I referenced the trolling motor shaft, the 55# has a smaller shaft than the larger motors. I have bent mine but was able to straighten it. That was about a year ago. I read that this is pretty common if you hit something solid. Just MY $0.02 Doug
