    Default Is it bad?

Went today with my Elite 7 HDI. I am not sure the down scan transducer is working properly. At times it would not show any bottom regardless of the speed. I did a factory reset.even set it up with a copy of the settings received from CDC. Some times the bottom could hardly be seen. Some times you would think it was working and then the bottom would disapear. This was a unit ordered to replace the transducer that I damaged during installation. Do they have a warrenty? Any ideas or suggestions would be helpful. Is the only fix ....another transducer?........thanks....crappir1133

My first question is transducer mounted where face is level with bottom of boat? Next how deep is the water and what is your depth set at for max depth? When you say bottom could hardly be seen where was it at on the screen? Middle or all the way at bottom of screen. It would really help if you could post a couple of pictures of the screen even if you have to do it with phone. Also a picture of how transducer is mounted.

I bought one of these units and used it about 3 times and then sold it for about half price. I thought I would try to save some money in buying a cheaper unit than the HD units but I ended up getting an HD after the fact. I really didnt like anything about the elite 7 unit at all. It was cheaper but in electronics you get what you pay for!!!!!!!!!!! I ended up putting an HD 5 on the bow to run my maps and also put a Humminbird 360 and a 1159ci HD DI to operate it with.

Know anyone with a similar unit? Put your head on their transducer, and his head on your transducer....see what happens

cray, the transducer is mounted on a stationary post ... not on the trolling motor and should be flat. The depth is set to auto and bottom is approx. 8'to 12'. I know nothing about placing pictures. I also do not know anyone that has this unit to swap heads with.I thought someone else may have had similar problems. It's a shame because down scan was cool when it was working... crappie1133

Since my unit was warm. I wonder if the unit isn't working like it should. Very warm day, everything else seemed to work o.k.
