    Default Transducer question

I am thinking of upgrading my Lowrance 520C (on my console) to a HDS Touch bundle. I'm not real up on the technical aspects of the electronics so I have a couple of questions. My 520C transducer is listed as a straight 200kHz with a 20 degree cone angle. The Touch is listed as 83/200 kHz. They both have the blue plug. My power plug is also blue. I rarely fish over 30' and never over 50-60'. Here's my questions.

Can I just use the transducer from the 520C? If so, is there an advantage to using the 83/200? Should I just use the old transducer and power cables and then only have to install the structure scan transducer? And, if so would I still get the benefit of the overlay?

    Thanks,

The transducers are identical in every way.

There are differences in the power cable. Your 520 has wires to allow it to power NMEA devices, and the Touch doesn't have that ability even with the 520 power cable. If you have NMEA devices you want to use with the Touch, you'll need to add a power node to your network. Your Touch cable has a yellow wire to control some other devices such as an LSS or a Sonic Hub.

if you plan to sell your 520, the new owner will want the 520 cable instead of the Touch cable.

Thanks. That's the kind of info I was looking for.
