Since the weather and water is kind of messed up, I took some time to review my Elite 7 HDI's manual. When I purchased my unit, I went on line and printed a manual that is larger and in color.I placed it in a folder and put it in my boat. I found some of the minor problems I was having was due to ......PILOT ERROR .....and not something wrong with my finder. I have only reviewed about 20 pages, but have learned, I was not doing it right. This is a good time to do clean-ups, re-spooling reels and learning more about what we spent a lot of bucks for........Getting ready for new season......crappie1133

I downloaded and printed the manual to my 1197 a full year before I purchased it...

Was I ready when the unit came...?? Heck No...

It's still been a learning curve...4 1/2 years later...

Ricky, you are right , I learn something every time I go out. I still don't feel I am reaching its maxium potential. I have a HST-WSBL transducer on the rear and when I switch to that transducer, which is a dual 83/200htz transducer, I can only access one frequency. If the Elite 7 is on 200 htz will not show 83 htz if set on the hybrid transducer the back will not show DI. I hope to one day feel I know what I am doing. I have only had this unit about 10 months, so I have a long ways to go.....Thanks for you input , I always enjoy your comments.......crappie1133
