Default Putting Hydrografx maps on the 788 Humminbird?

I've got the sidescan CDs from Pat Hahs. His product will help you find structure and make waypoints, but the data is getting old. However, the high definition colored depth contour maps are great! And they are georeferenced.

Yeah, I can buy the Navionics chip for $150 but 1) I don't know if they are as good as Pat's contour maps and 2) why spend the money if I already did.

I've got an email to Pat to ask him, but thought I would ask here.

Has anybody ever taken the .map and .bmp files (from KY Hydrografx or other source) and put them on an Sd card and been able to see them on a Depthfinder/plotter?

Can anybody tell me what file types are used on the Navionics SC cards?

I have a Garmin G2 chart that works in my Garmin GPS and shows what is essentially a georeferenced picture/chart on the GPS screen. Those are .IMG and .GMA files and associated .UNL (unlock) files. I assume the Humminbird could use G2 charts...I may try to see. I wonder if there is a program that could take the .bmp and .map files and convert them to .IMG. I dunno, it might be easy or it may be impossible.

That's a start, Canepole, thanks. I know what file formats Garmin uses. First problem here is I do NOT know the file formats that the Humminbird uses--or the format that Navionics chips use because obviously they work with Humminbird.

Well, Pat emailed and said he sold the rights to his topos to Humminbird for their Lakemaster charts. They are cheaper than the Navionics. I looked at the Navionics chart online and it was not as detailed and missed completely some features I regularly fish.

Look around and see if you can find a Motion Computing daylight viewable tablet cheap. I have this tablet and I can run all sorts of maps with it.
