I have a friend wh has fished forever and he is 83. He put a new elite 5 transducer on his minkotta motor with the kit from lowrance . His wiring from it goes to a dedicated 12 volt battery.24 volt battery system dedicated trolling motor. He gets no fish symbls long as the trollngmotor is running. Once he stops then fish symbols. Any ideas??? His registered name bye the way is crappieduster i signed him up 2 years ago, but he does not do computers.

Sounds like a mounting problem to me. Maybe ducer is to close to prop. When running troller it's taking the water away from the ducer face so it can't receive it's signal. If screen was going blank I'd say voltage drop but that shouldn't be a problem if it's on separate battery from troller.

Actually, he spent quite a bit of time on the phn with Lowrance and they did not have any idea?

It's got to be electrical interference of some kind or another ... based on it working when TM is not running. Could be due to wires running from battery to TM & unit are close together & not shielded real good ... or could be the close proximity of the TM & Tdx or unit![]()
Strange that the "cross talk" is only affecting the fish symbols/arches display ...![]()
As far as you know, does everything else display normal when the arches/symbols disappear ??

Well, I ain't no kinda expert or electrical guru ... but, that sure sounds like electrical interference of some kind or another. Just sounds like the TM is interfering with whatever frequency that's responsible for the symbols ... or it's confounding the processor or program, somehow. Shoot a PM to Cane Pole & see if he has any ideas. I'm just basically guessing.

It sounds like the cable (or the junction where the cable goes into the xducer housing)...has an access point (damage) that is allowing the RF to bleed into...
I would suggest removing the xducer and it's cable from the TM ...separate the xducer cable from anywhere close to the TM and the TM power wires...(along the entire length of the xducer cable)...and place the xducer in the water completely away from the TM...
Start the TM and move the xducer towards the TM as it is running....if the problem shows up as the xducer gets closer to the TM ...there is a damaged spot somewhere in the xducer (or cable)...
