    Default Equipment care

The depth finders I've always had were small and low tech but I'm installing an 1199 on my boat now and I've a couple of questions. I keep my boat under a shed but I was wondering do most folks unplug the unit and take it inside or leave it hooked up. Also, thinking about long road trips and stopping at stores, restaurants etc. Sure would be easy to walk off with. That cover that came on it, looks to me like it would blow off going down the road. I'm sure these are silly questions but this is the kind of stuff that fills my lil mind. Thanks in advance. fb

Yea, take that stuff off when traveling and at home! I keep my electronics in an old padded laptop case in the truck when traveling and in the house when at home. Better to be safe than sorry!

I like to know where it is when I'm ready to use it. I know a guy that lost a Holly 4 barrel Hi performance carb and manifold taken right off his car parked next to his house about 3AM.

FB, I believe in taking mine off. I have a pelican case that I put mine in whenever I come off the water. These things cost too much to just walk off with. I also use a cloth like you clean your glasses with and a mixture of vinegar and water to clean my screen. I guess I'm a little OCD. Lol

Go right here and look at the cover bracket Ricki sells to hold that cover in place. Money well spent.

I take mine off! Think about it this way. Lol would you leave $500-$3000 on your dashboard! While you stop at the store, restaurant etc.

Lost a cover on my hds7 touch on the highway. But it was snapped on all the way.

Off when not in use, why donate to someones habit or damage on a road trip.
