I tried looking this up .but could'nt find an acceptable answer. I fish a shallow lake (16' max.) and have an Elite 7 HDI. Since the water is shallow, Would I get better results with a slower ping speed. At the present I have it set to "fastest". Wondering would I be better off with a slower ping speed? Is there a general rule to go by Thought I would ask the sonar masters on this board.. Thanks everyone for any info.....Crappie1133

When I keep my gratitude higher than my expectations I have a good day
deep water slow. shallow water fast. speed of sound thru water is @1100 fps. I just use auto. Machine is smarter that I.

Adjust your ping speed along with your boat speed. If your trolling slow down your ping speed. if your on step, speed up ping speed to keep up with boat speed in order to get a Better/ clearer reading.
I keep mine on high. I think it gives you faster updates on the screen. another word it wont make small fish seem larger, and trees and drop offs will be more accurate. if your sitting still you might want to slow it down to get a better picture but in my opinion if you all ready know that the tree is there then the picture doesn't really make a difference.
I run my chart speed on fast to avoid hitting ground in shallow water , slower when drift fishing . I am using the units x-4, and cudas .
