LCR4000 are they any good ?

This past week end i went to an estate sale found a Humminbird LCR 4000 for $10 it didnt come with a transducer or wire harness to hook up power. I was wondering if it is a good unit to have before i buy the transducer and power wires ? any way to test it buying a transducer ?

The LCR 4000 was a good unit for its day but that was back in 1988. Electronics (especially LCDs) have changed a lot since then. You would be better served by using the money you were going to spend on a power cable and transducer towards a new modern LCD unit. I don’t know if you can even find the older power cable and transducer that the LCR 4000 uses; Humminbird has not made them in many years.

Do like I have, put it on a shelf and one day use it as a display. I have acumulated a bunch of old units and I'm going to build a display shelf and kind of do a evolution display. I have a old LCR 2000.

Cray, I still have a Lowrance X16 and a Mark 1 paper graft, when I put them up they still working also have the Humminbird with red dot ,still works but like you I also put them on shelf
