The stock GPS receiver that comes with the external units is the AS GRP...and it still has the "Donut" at less than 0.6mph...

I still deal with the "Donut" (using my older GPS antenna)...simply because of the yukky SI images I'm getting in the software version required to operate the AS GPS HS ...

Some are getting great images with the new software versions...sadly...I'm not 1 of them...

As soon as HB finally releases a software version that plays well with my 1197...the AS GPS HS antenna will happily reside in my setup...

I have one 998hd and one 998non hd along with a 360.there all three using the heading sensor running the 6.740 software. The 83khz on the 2d seems to be a little wacky and the 200khz sometimes seems to not be quite right(but tbat might just be me).other than that i like everything.some are having issues though(but the issues could be there fault,i dont no)

I don't know if the 1197 has the 6.740 updates. 6.740 seems to work well for me on my 898's. I'm using the HS puck also, but haven't paid it much attention since Spring when I switched over to long lining and then pulling crankbaits.

The donut can be aggravating, but it has some advantages. Even though there is no arrow pointing the direction you are moving, the donut still updates and moves. When that waypoint icon is in the center of that donut, you are "there" no question about it. I'm sure the heading sensor gps is better, but if you are fishing waypoints, it is pretty easy to move above .5 so you will have an arrow, then when you get close, slow down on purpose to get the donut and put it around your waypoint icon.

It is the same as visiting a pastry shop. Your heart may be set on a bear claw, but if they don't have any or they cost more than you have in your pocket, a plain ole donut just ain't too bad.
