Lowrance HDS-5 Question

I have a HDS-5 unit that has nothing on the cover as to whether it is a gen-1 or 2 is there any way to hook this up to tell if it has side imaging?

google HDS 5 for images of the unit to determine if G1 or 2. IF a Gen 1, you will need the SS/DS black box and cables LSS transducer, for sure, G2 I "think" you need the same black box and related gear, the LSS 2 ducer is larger than the LSS 1. The Touch series has no buttons along the lower edge of the screen as do the G1/2 HU's, and believe the SS/DS is inside the main HU, no longer need a separate black box and cables from the black box to the HU.

If it's a Gen 2 when you boot it up on the screen it should say "Gen 2", after it's booted go menu, menu, system, about, it should tell you everything there. All HDS systems, Gen 1, Gen 2 or Touch will work with either LSS 1 or 2. The Touch units have the Structure Scan built in, it will work with either transducer, 1 or 2.
