New Hummnibird 600 series

Humminbird has the 600 series posted on their website. That was the only new ones that they had on there. Here is a link to the page 600 Series

600 series have taller and narrower screen, that is good for DI, but awful for SI. Actually 698 SI is a step back comparing with 598 SI - it has a wider SI screen view than 698 SI has. I have not seen 698 SI manual yet, and hope that it has options of vertical screen spliting, as Lowrance 5HDI has them for 2D, DI and map views. 5HDI has all options of spliting for 2D/DI views - horisontal and vertical, but 500 series have only horisontal spliting for 2D/DI. Hope 600 have both options as well. Vertical spliting can be used for SI views on 698 too. It is just a simple addition in program, if it has been already done, 698 SI will be a great unit!

I guess they sacrificed a few things to make SI more affordable for some folks. The 798 SI retailed for over $1000, this one is coming in a $700. I guess it depends on what the new 800 series will retail for. Maybe get more bang for your buck with them.

I had bought a 598 si unit back a month or so from BBG marine $660.00 shipped and I love the unit. I would love to have one of the bigger units but just did not have the extra $$$ to buy the big one. These new Humminbirds look great but I hate that the screen has been down sized on the 698 si unit. I can't wait to see the rest of them and the retails.
