    Default 998 losing power

I M having a problem with my 998. It will loose power on its own.. I am using 6.43 I believe for the software( factory installed). Any ideas on what could cause it to do this? Thanks

Check connection on back of head unit. Unplug it and reinstall making sure it goes in all the way. If in doubt remove power wire from gang plug and insert it by itself. If not there then go to battery connection and check that for being loose. Also check at fuse end wire connections. Also if you have the long glass fuse check ends on fuse and wires for wire ends that touch fuse for corrosion. I always install a fuse holder for blade type fuse with waterproof cover and solder wires. Hopefully you have it wired straight to battery.

That's some great advice, I had trouble with mine then went to a stand alone battery just for my 998 always make sure your battery is charged to its fullest.

I have to check again but I believe my power is ran from the battery straight to the unit.... At first the unit would shut off when i would be running wide open but towards the end of the trip it would just shut off randomly when I was ideling around looking or brush on the side image. .... Does this still sound like a connection issue. I had it in system status and was monitoring the voltage while ideling under a bridge but as soon as I opened it up the ride got rough and it kicked out. The unit is hooked to a separate battery from the big motor....

You might think about having the battery load tested...

Yes...the battery could show 12v with a meter but still could have a bad or dead cell ....

    Load testing will determine this...
