HELP with Lowrance HDS 7

I apologize but I can't find any clear information on where to mount the transducers.

Can someone educate me on where the two transducers need to be mounted.

I planed on drilling the transom and attaching with marine appoxy/screws.

Any advice on the recommended units setting for the best picture would be appricated.

This is my first depth finder... very excited to get it on the water.

I can't help except to say it would help some of the guys who have installed these ducers to know what kind of boat your installing on.

On the lowrance website i believe is a diagram as well as in the manual that came with the unit. Also tech support is just a call away and are very helpful. I have the hds7 and transducer are mounted 1 on each pontoon on my pontoon boat

Go to cabelas or bass pro and get a transducer board-its a plastic board like a plastic cutting board you mount on bsck of boat with 5200 caulk, & can put a couple of screws in at the top above the water line. This way if u need to move transducers you are NOT putting all kinds of holes in boat Hull. Also Bass pro has portable transducer mounts that clamp on back of boat at the top of the transom-they work very good about $35-39 retail. Tell what kind of boat metal or glass?? Put the smaller transducer the 2d one on the back left side of boatthis will be away from the thrust of the prop as this ducer does not like air bubbles turbulence water.

Is this is a HDS 7 Touch or you have an LSS so you have two transducers?

Glass or aluminum boat?

On a glass boat, gluing the 2D transducer in the hull is the best way to go. It will work at speed better and you don't have to drill the transom or worry about transducer damage.

Fill us in on what transducers you have and what kind of boat. A picture of the back of the boat might help too.

Just did a no additional holes in hull transducer mount. Page 1 at the bottom shows the very first step, and the bottom of page 3 shows the finish. There may be an additional pic of the finished install on down in the thread. I sure hate drilling holes in the boat. Good luck to you and congratulations on the new equipment.
